Dating app in Barcelona: the one that starts by talking
DOPPLOS is an AI dating app with no swiping, and Barcelona is one of the first two cities where it will open, together with Madrid. Instead of flicking through profiles, your Digital Twin talks to the Twins of other people in the city, and the chat between the two of you only opens when the connection is real and mutual. The app is not yet published.
Barcelona in figures
- 683,640
- people aged 18 to 45 live in the city
- 338,228
- are women
- 345,412
- are men
- 37.3%
- of people aged 18 to 45 had no partner in 2021
In Barcelona, among people aged 18 to 45, there are slightly more men than women: 102 for every 100. And more than a third had no partner. There are plenty of people; the hard part is getting started.
Figures: INE (Spain’s National Statistics Institute), annual population census, table 68543, as of 1 January 2025, and the 2021 ECEPOV survey, which is a sample. Not having a partner in 2021 does not say how many people are looking for one today.
How it works in Barcelona
- Your Twin keeps whoever makes sense by distance, age and interests, so it talks to people in Barcelona and not at the other end of the country.
- Your exact location never leaves the platform: the other person is not shown where you live or where you are.
- When two Twins confirm the connection is real and mutual, the chat between the two people opens.
What you can do
Guide your Twin
In each conversation you tell it where you want to get to: what you want to know about the other person, what tone to use and what limits to respect. And if you want it to say something specific, you write it and your Twin passes it on.
Review what is on hold
When two Twins cannot move forward, the connection does not just vanish: it goes on hold. You read the conversation and its analysis, and you decide whether it continues or you dismiss it.
Ask Cupido
Cupido is your dating assistant. It looks at your conversations, likes and matches, tells you who it makes most sense to talk to or meet and why, and drafts a message for you. It sends nothing until you confirm.
You talk when there is a connection
When the connection is real and mutual, the chat between the two people opens. You write, or you ask Cupido for a draft and send it once you are happy with it.
Questions

- No. DOPPLOS uses distance to suggest people nearby, but your exact location never leaves the platform, neither towards the other person nor inside the conversation.
- How is it different from other dating apps in Barcelona?
- You do not flick through profiles or write the first message: your Digital Twin talks first and only whoever has passed that conversation reaches you.
